HEALTH CLAIMS

We would like to familiarize you with the „Regulation of the European Parliament and Council on nutrition and health claims made on foods (EC no.1924/2006)“ which concerns also our products.

This is a regulation which came into force on 1 July 2007. Since 15 December 2012, functional health claims included in the list of the „Regulation of the EU Commission no. 432/2012“ may be used only.

This regulation shall concern all companies manufacturing or distributing food supplements.

Definition of the health claim – any claim that states, suggests or implies that a relationship exists between a food category, a food or one of its constituents and health.

Reduction of disease risk claim - any health claim that states, suggests or implies that the consumption of a food category, a food or one of its constituents significantly reduces a risk factor in the development of a human disease.

The regulation shall apply to all nutrition and health claims in the commercial communications, advertising of food as well as promotional campaigns. These may not include declarations which state or suggest a relationship exists between a food and health. At the same time, they may not state that some food reduces disease risk etc.
